Symposium – Professor Vanalyne Green

Posted by Carole Kirk

Professor Vanalyne GreenVanalyne Green, Professor of Fine Art in the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies discussed her use of online tests for hidden bias as a way of interrupting unconscious bias among her students and speaking to the question of representation.  She discovered ‘Project Implicit’ testing and research via the Institute of Distributed Creativity, which she has found to be a useful resource generally.  She has also used blogs with students, and suggested that blogs are interesting in enabling students to rehearse a public self.  She uses the blog for a Level 1 curatorial module, asking students to post assignments on the blog.  They then read out their text explication from the blog in group sessions.
